I love this series and this time period especially. The author excellently describes the climate of the time and the people. The main character Redcastle is my favorite of course and this book as with all the rest he traverses through many dangers and places. This time in search for his kidnapped daughter. I highly recommend this series.

Oliver Redcastle, former Pinkerton man and Union sharpshooter, returns in Book 6 of this enjoyable historical, adventure and thriller series. The mother of his daughter has left them both and married a very rich Englishman, a collector of rare exotic flowers, and Chloe with her chaperone has gone to England for the wedding. When Oliver journeys across the Atlantic to retrieve them, a dangerous chain of events is set in motion. Oliver misses reuniting with them and he will have to wait until he can book passage home. Upon landing, he learns that the chaperone has died on the voyage and Chloe has been left in the company of the handsome, fast-talking, Grover Finney, who gives her no choice but to continue her journey with him. When Oliver learns what happened, he fears for the safety of his beloved girl. The fast-paced action proceeds as the devious Grover races to the Florida Everglades to find a coveted flower for Marietta’s new husband and Oliver takes up the chase to rescue Chloe. Both face many obstacles and dangers in the hot and humid land of alligators, snakes and mosquitoes as well as from the humans they encounter. This series always provides high octane adventure. Chloe is growing up and we see glimpses of the woman she will become, as she is tested like never before. Oliver displays his strength and resilience as well as his many skills in his dogged pursuit to save his daughter. The author always gives us some interesting new characters and some of them will play a role in future episodes, providing an element of continuity for the series without compromising the book as a stand-alone read. If you like historical fiction, thrillers or adventure novels, this story will appeal on all levels and I recommend it for all three. This is my honest review of an ARC I received from the author.
